wow, Wow, WOW

You gals are the greatest. I can't believe the amount of comments you left. Thank you all for your help, your comments are very inspiring. When I put up the quick post this morning at work (don't tell ;-)) I never thought that I would get over one hundred answers. You are a-ma-zing.
Now it was a close call, and if I counted correctly 70 voted for beach and 51 for drama, quite a few were as undecided as I am. Some of you were wondering what the green monster looks like, voilà:

I know, it isn't pretty, but it makes spots and stains magically disappear (very improtant with a toddler in the house), it was for free (used to belong to Chris' parents), it is extremely comfy (Chris' dad is still whining how uncomfortable his new one is compared to the green monster), and most important we don't have the money for a new one. As you can see, I currently went with an all green color scheme, which I really like, but after 5 years am just plain bored with.

Help me decide

I figured out two color schemes yesterday and now can't decide which one I like better. I started out with the 70s forest green of our couch and went from there. Our furniture is neutral, brown-black, the room has a good size and isn't crowded, and it has a large window with lots of light coming through.
Version 1: the beach colors
I chose an analogous color scheme, and grounded it with a neutral beige. I was thinking of using the blue or beige for the walls and the rest for pillows, curtains, rug, and paintings.

Version2: the drama colors
Here I used a triadic color scheme, also grounded with a beige. I would use the beige for the walls, and the rest as pillows, curtains, rug, and paintings.

In case you were wondering, the color patches are from Ralph Lauren paint.
So what do you think? I would love to here your input.

Wacky Wednesday

Hi Gals & Guys,

I'm not in the mood to go hunting today. I was working in our house this morning and afterwards went to work and of course had to stay late to make up the time. So now that I'm finally home one would think I would relax hunting for freebies, but no - no time again. Why? Our dry wall installer put up the plaster in our living room and bed room (yay :-)), so we are ready to paint. And who hasn't decided on a color scheme yet? me. Unbelievable and very atypical. Usually that is the first thing I do when I know I am moving, so I can buy small decorations that enhance the color scheme when they happen to cross my way. But this time I just can't decide. So tonight I'll surf the net looking for some color schemes that match our couch which is in the ugliest dark green color you have ever seen.

yo-ho-yo-ho a pirate's life for me

Today was Damien's third birthday and he invited 3 friends to a pirate party. The pirate theme was his idea. He has a Winnie Pooh book about Tigger's birthday where they go on a pirate adventure as a birthday gift for Tigger. So I made a pirate invitation with elements from his favorite pirate books:

Credits: cloud paper from SA Reverie by Gina Marie Huff from Weeds & Wildflowers Designs; blue paper, island, palm trees, sea star, shark, sun, seagulls from Sea Doodles by Patricia Christensen from Weeds & Wildflowers Designs; alpha Blue Shoes by Gina Miller; glitter waves from Cool Summer by Bren Boone; boat with pirates from the children's book Hier kommen die Piraten! by Martina Leykamm; shark flag and parrot from the children's book Käpt'n Sharky und das Geheimnis der Schatzinsel by Jutta Langreuter and Silvio Neuendorf.

For the party I bought pirate daggers made of foam rubber and made some pirate hats. I used thick black felt and glued black velco on the inside with the hot glue gun, so its adjustable. Then I painted some crossed bones on the front with white paint. Voilà cheap& fun pirate hats.
Attractions were:
- a treasure cave built out of the packing boxes (we started packing for the upcoming move to the house) and some blankets in our living room and
- paint & 4 frames.
Damien had a lot of fun as did his guests, so I guess the party was a success. If measured by the amount of chaos left in his room, it was a smashing success ;-)
