Christmas Greetings

Hi Ladies and Gents :-)

I want to wish all a very merry Christmas with your friends and family full of love, joy, and laughter.
Your comments have made this Christmas very special for me. Thank you.

Love, Angie aka IkeaGoddess

PS. I'm still trying to update my Google reader link list. That blogger plug-in has definitely NOT been sufficiently betaed. No sir-e. What a pain in the ass..grrr. Anyway I'm up to the letter H, there are about 700 more links to come. For once I'll work on my weaknesses and be patient and just keep uploading bit by bit. Should be complete by 2010. I'll let you know when I'm finished ;-)

PPS. Here is a fun video of Damien at my parent's house a couple weeks ago. They have a new sword-fighting game for their Wii, and my little padawan went completely berserk. For added laughter please note that on the left side on the off is the TV. My patents don't have a flat-screen - which my mom desperately wants and is trying to persuade my dad to get (yep my mom is as much of a tech freak as I am) - so she not once tries to stop Damien as he gets closer and closer. In fact later that evening I caught her trying to urge Damien closer to the TV (yeah, she fights with all possible means, you know, all's fair in love and war. I think I got that from her too ;-) ).

Valediction

Saying good-bye.
I never thought this would be so hard to do. But do it I must.

First thank you all for your numerous comments on my last post. I appreciate it.

Next a quick update on what's happening in my life.
These last few weeks have been exhausting. After me being under weather, Damien had the flu or the swine flu. We don't know which, because they don't test it anymore. However if he didn't have it before we were in the waiting room of the childrens' clinic for over 2 hours filled with kids looking just as feverish as Damien, he probably had it afterwards. The little guy was under the weather for 3 days, but has been doing pretty good since.
After that wonderful episode in our life, I went on a little team building mission with my colleagues and boss. We went two days to Paris. God, I love Paris and I'm not talking about that annoying little Hilton bitch. It truly is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Instead of taking the metro like normal sane humans, we walked from one highlight to the next. And we didn't just do the inner city ones either. After those two days I actually had sore muscles. Can you believe it? I walk every fucking day to work and back and here I am legs aching after two days of walking in Paris. At least I'm sure everybody else felt the same or worse. Yet again I didn't get a chance to go into the Louvre (we only passed on the outside), and we didn't make it to Père Lachaise (in the humble opinion of this enthusiastic graveyard tourist, the world's third most beautiful cemetery after London's Highgate and New Orleans' Lafayette). I so wanted to kiss Oscar Wilde's grave again. I did that once 15 years ago, and I haven't regretted it since. This time around my personal Paris highlight was watching the Eiffel tower at night at the full hour - it twinkles! Ya just gotta love that ;-)

Since being back from Paris, work is crazy. And with Christmas around the corner life at home is crazy too.

Now that you know why I haven't been around lately, I'll come to the hard part, why I won't be around in the future. Well, I will be posting every now and then, but from here on out it will only be about my life, interests, vamps, and my opinion about what's going on. And every now and then I will get up on my little soapbox aka this blog and will tell the world what I think about it. So if you're interested in that, please stay. If you are looking for freebies, sorry, you won't be finding them here anymore. For those of you who want to do some own hunting, I have decided to share by Google reader list for a couple of weeks. You can find it in the sidebar. Happy hunting :-) I hope you find it as fun as I once did. *edit havinf troubles uploading my reader list, blogger isn't to will to upload 1000+ links. I'll keep trying though*
After 3 years of basically freebie hunting every evening, I no longer feel happy and relaxed while doing it. It has become another item on my to do list. And since that is already way too fucking long as it is, I have decided now is the time to call it quits.
These last weeks I have enjoyed reading every evening, and have done some writing too. I finished my first short story for a contest and am looking forward to finding out what others think about it. At the moment that is what makes me happy. I also have the outline for a second story written out, so I hope to start on that soon.
Picking up writing again, has not only made me happy, it has also improved my English - helped me get back into an "English" state of mind, opposed to a German one. I have started to dream in English again. I love that, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Also reading and in addition to writing fanfiction smut, as I do, - that rated M(ature) warning is there for a reason - has definitely not hurt our mommy-and-daddy-alone-time. No complaints from Chris so far ;-)

As this is for some of us a crossing and our paths will no longer connect, I want to say good-bye and thank you. I had a wonderful time. Scrapbooking was an important part of my life and I hope I will come to love it again. The digi scrapping community is not only tightly knit, caring and compassionate, but also a fabulous bunch of ladies and a few good men who I am glad I got to know better. I truly enjoyed the ride. Thank you.

Since I don't have any words of wisdom to leave you with, and you already know my favorite Eric Northman quote, here is one of my all time favorites by Robert Cody:
"Have the courage to live. Anyone can die."

Stay frosty
Cheers, Angie aka IkeaGoddess

MIA

Sorry I've been MIA. I'm feeling out of sorts. Nothing terrible, but just not my usual self. And I sooo don't want to be sick right now. We still have so much to due around the house before Christmas. So before I come down with a cold, I have decided to rest a little more than usual and actually take care of myself, for once ;-) Yep and it took me 37 years to be able to do it too. Being grown-up and realizing it: that sucks :-D
So girlfriends, while I'm busy taking care of myself and am not around, I'll leave you with some eye-candy:

This is the song that has found an uninhabited spot in my mind and has decided to say there:

Freebies and a piece of my mind (rated M)

My Live Writer isn't working any more - and I hate it, seriously H.A.T.E. it. It drives me insane when Diego isn't doing what he is supposed to. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Live Writer and I still get the same error. And I even did all those fucking restarts too, and you just know how long those take. *patience is so not my strong side* I have had it with Diego and after is post (which I am actually writing in this teeny-tiny blogger posting window - arghhhh) Diego will be treated to a nice little system restore. And if that doesn't help, I'll go full dominatrix on him and format. I am not taking crap from this tiny black piece of scrap metal on my desk. Damn the next one will definitely be an Apple, even if I have to save up a year longer. I've had it with Windows, Diego may look all sleek, shiny, glossy black, but he doesn't stand a chance against Apple design. I know appearance isn't everything, but Macs have always left me drooling. Seriously, I'm so not joking. Literally drooling. I'm a design whore and Apple are at the top of their game. Besides a sleek minimal design Mac would look really sexy on my desk, next to my fabulous nickel IKEA Forsa lamp (I have loved that lamp since it first came out). Well, enough of me daydreaming. I won't have the money for a new PC in the next 2-3 years, so Diego will have to do.

Most of you, at least those of you in the States, are probably getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving today. Sadly this year, we aren't celebrating. My mom is not home and for us its just a regular work day. Its these days that it sucks to be in Germany. Don't get me wrong, I love it here, I call it home, and I have the love of my life, my son-shine, and my family at me side in Germany. But on days like these I long to be in New Orleans, LA with my family in a wooden house with a wrapped around porch, eating a monster of a turkey, and talking English all day.
And then going shopping with my mom on Black Friday. That woman turns into a ferocious tiger when she sees the word sale. She goes all fucking ninja on Black Friday. Its actually quite beautiful to watch. Sometimes I catch myself wanting to sit down with a bag of salty buttered pop corn and just watch her shop from the side lines. Well that and the fact that I have to physically assist her in those mad shopping rampages by carrying bags and acting as a human compass (my mom has the worst sense of direction), so my feet always kill me, even though I never wear heels - an only Converse kind of gal - and basically take every chance of sitting down I can get.
Now in order to get this homesick self-pitying me out of the gutter, you have to leave a comment and tell me all about your Black Friday purchase. Let me bask in your shopping madness stories. I can't wait ;-)

I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

Love, Angie aka IkeaGoddess

Monday’s Freebies

I’m alive :-)
I was off today after working through the weekend, late shift of course. Damien stayed the night at his grandparents and Chris is on the early shift. I didn’t even wake up when he got out of bed. I actually slept till  - are you ready? – till 2:30pm! Can you believe it? I sure as hell couldn’t when I woke up and looked at the alarm clock on my nightstand. But a quick glace at my wristwatch confirmed it, this momma can sleep the day away. And it felt goooood too ;-)
So now that I have a life again and no longer feel like a sleepwalking senior citizen, I have time to look for some freebies once again. Enjoy.

Robbie Williams

Hello Ladies,

after posting Robbie's Come Undone video yesterday, I ended up listening to his music half the night. *sigh* I may have mentioned before that he is one sexy rockstar who as Kim B.'s puts it has that "I don't give a shit, naughty boy attitude" which makes him even hotter. So since you already know my favorite Robbie Williams video, I'll leave you with the remaining 4 of my top 5 Robbie videos.

First the funniest ever Robbie Williams video. He definitely does not know the word shame or do you know of anybody who would wear that suit? You gotta love him for that.

Next is a beautiful song and a nice story-telling video. And again a ridiculous suit. I'm beginning to see a pattern here.

Now this is one of my personal favorites from his album Swing When You're Winning. After he brought out the CD Sing When You're Winning, which was a huge success, Robbie did an album of his favorite Rat Pack songs. And I think he did a bloody brilliant job. I watched the Royal Albert Hall concert on TV and was spellbound. He is a master of live entertainment.

Last but not least, the song that I will forever know by heart: Angels. The official video kind of sucks in my opinion, besides Angels is heard best live anyway. So here it is, the song that changed Robbie's career.

How's that for some weekend eye-candy? ;-)
Cheers, Angie aka IkeaGoddess

Homage to Jonas Akerlund

Tonight I just wanted to share a few of my favorite music video directed by Jonas Akerlund.
1st, P!nk’s Sober:

I love P!nk, I think she is seriously talented and she isn’t afraid to voice her opinion. I love that.

Next, Christina Aguilera's Beautiful:
Sorry can’t embed, but you can find it here:

Now, I’m not too big of a Christina Aguilera fan – too much pop for my taste – however this song is truly beautiful and it works really well with her unbelievable voice.

So by watching these and the previous videos you will have noticed that Jonas Akerlund has an exceptional eye for strong photographic imagery. To enforce that I will will leave you with his masterpiece, Robbie Williams’ Come Undone (the uncensored European version, you have been warned)

This is by far my favorite song by Robbie, and I like quite a lot of his songs. Maybe it’s just because its Robbie – (I am positive my fellow European females will agree with me on this) before he went all crazy area 51 on us, Robbie Williams was the epitome of a cocky sexy bastard and I loved him for it. The video really enhances that. Enjoy :-)

My crazy life

Hi Ladies,
I'm MIA again, seems to becoming a new habit of mine :-/
I'm working the late shift again this week. By the time I get home I'm too tired to hunt for freebies and in the mornings, after my sorry tired not so small ass gets Damien to kindergarten, I head straight back to bed till I'm off to work again. Needless to say our place looks like a dump. Chris is doing his best, but having a very lively 4-year old alone on his hands every evening limits his possibilities. It takes two to throw this household and right now I'm not up to it. Lucky for me, I have shared flats with different people for over 10 years which has seriously decreased my sense of cleanliness. Chris is a man, so his acceptance level for dirt and chaos is naturally below that of us pure double x chromosome holders. And Damien will just have to live with it for this week, I'll just think of it as preparing him for his college days ;-) May the chaos rule and still let us find the keys :-D
I'm not sure when I will be posting again.
If you go to see New Moon tomorrow, please let me know how it was. I'm not able to see it on opening night, as I'm working and I can't stand to watch it in German, so I'm just gonna have to wait till I get my hands on it in English.
As one of the topics of my last post was my love for Jonas Akerlund music videos, here is one of his first that caught my eye. Enjoy

PS. I love this song. Its so full of energy and just makes me jump up and dance.
Cheers, IkeaGoddess aka Angie

Weekend Freebies

Have you seen or heard the new Lady Gaga yet? Well fasten your seatbelts ladies, here it is:

I think the song has a catchy tune and I like listening to it. And her dance moves are outrageous, as always. But what I love best about Lady Gaga are her over the top extravagant videos. You hardly find artists that make videos like that anymore. My favorite Lady Gaga video is Paparazzi, of course. Not only was it made by Jonas Akerlund (the guy is a genius and a legend in terms of music videos) but it also stars my personal wet dream Alexander Skarsgard. Who needs pudding when you have sexpenders? Love you Kristine ;-)

Friday, the 13th

So it’s Friday, the 13th and I seriously contemplated stopping by the DVD store to pick up a horror movie tonight. Instead I went straight home and watched the Vampire Diaries. Not exactly the Exorcist, but better that nothing. And in my opinion it was a really good episode. Damon finally broke down and showed some feelings. To say it in Eric Northman’s undead word: “This is the beginning…”. I really am hooked on this series.

Now to New Moon: only 6 more days. And every day I get to see new photos of the holy trinity of Twilight promoting their asses off – I love it. In times like these I am such a gossip blog whore, I keep coming back for more. Have you seen the photos of them in Madrid? Awesome and their stylist deserves a raise. Don’t you think so too?
So what do you make of the Robsten rumors? I didn’t think there was much too it till I looked at this photo very closely. There is a hand right under her boob and it isn’t hers nor Taylor’s. I think a friend would hold her a little bit further down, don’t you? Here is another example:
robsten So what you you think? Are Robsten an item – or is he just trying out for a job as personal boob support?

Thursday’s Freebies and 3 times rock

Thank you for your lovely comments, ladies. You rock my world.

And a very big thank you to all you lovelies that have ordered your Shutterfly books through the link on my page. You very sure have helped me out quite a bit. Especially with Christmas coming up. So thanks again, you rock :-)

This evening while freebie hunting, I watched The Boat That Rocked, the story of Radio Rock. Now I’m not sure if this is a movie I would have to see at the cinema, but as a DVD most certainly. It definitely put me in a fabulously funny mood. It has quirky little stories, fun and very real characters that don’t look like that they were cloned from Hollywood  plastic-surgery junkies, and to top it off it is wrapped in the most awesome music in history. Simply spectacular fun.
Caution: this is the European extended trailer, enough said. Let’s rock!

Wednesday’s Freebies

Hello ladies,

today I want to leave with 3 little treats besides the usual freebies I found. So please enjoy.

Only 8 more days to go till New Moon: here is a nice clip with short interviews of the 3 main characters talking about the movie:

On another note, People’s Sexiest Man Alive is soon to be revealed and the NY Post has rounded up likely candidates. Check out the hotness here: http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/popwrap/who_is_the_sexiest_man_alive_JiMWdJgO12ZCsp9d4fHSLN?photo_num=1
My personal favorite is behind photo number 7 ;-)

Here is one of my favorite scenes from Generation Kill with Sgt. Brad Iceman Colbert aka Alexander Skarsgard: Ripped body, fatigues with sexpenders, tattoo, and a smile – seriously, what else can a woman ask for?

Now I’m off to put my Christmas wish list together. What is on your list?

Stay frosty :-)

Monday’s Freebies

Only 10 more days till New Moon. Are you excited? I sure as hell am. Here is the extended trailer incase you haven’t seen it yet:

I admit to watching it more than once, OK a lot more than once ;-)
The other thing I’ve been watching this past week: Generation Kill, an HBO mini-series from 2008 based on the book of the same name written by Rolling Stone magazine reporter Evan Wright. Wright was an embedded reporter with the Marines during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Incidentally 2 of my favorite vampire actors play marines: Alexander Skarsgard aka Eric Northman of True Blood plays Sergeant Brad Iceman Colbert and Kellan Lutz aka Emmett Cullen of Twilight plays Corporal Jason Lilley. Now this is definitely a mini-series worth watching, not only because of the gorgeous men in uniform, but because it gives insight into a situation that is very hard to comprehend as an outsider.
I love the surreal scenes when they sing, here’s a good example:

Talking about hot vampires, here is a nice top 20 list of the hottest male vamps out there and I actually have to agree with it, well with a few minor shifts here and there (I agree with the comments made, #2 and #3 should swap places): http://www.guidetobeautyschools.com/hottest-twilight-vampires
