Freebie Friday

My arms I started taking out the old electrical wiring in our house. I actually only managed to get 3 rooms done today, because the wires were plastered deep into the wall. So that leaves me with a hammer in one hand and a chisel in other. On the good side that means I may even end up with some arm muscles in the end. I know they're not going to be anywhere like Madonna's, but if my upper arms would look and feel a little less like jello it would make me happy ;-)

Template Tuesday

I am tired... I am off week this work and what better way to spend my leave than to work in the house. My mom is off too, so these last two days the two of us have been working up a storm. We took down all the wallpaper and old paint in the top two stories of the house. For the time being we're putting all the rubble and stuff into the unused garage till we have enough for a container. So this evening I brought down yet another big garbage bag full of wallpaper strips and realized it was the 12th one. No wonder my back hurts and I'm falling asleep at an unusually early hour. Actually I am so tired that I will only post the templates I found (in honor of template Tuesday). I'll post the kits and stuff tomorrow. Now I'm going to get this old body to bed. CU tomorrow.

Super Saturday

I had already given up hope, but yesterday evening it happened: we finally got the key to our house! So early this morning, after a couple of hours of sleep (I'm on the late shift till midnight this week) I got up and went to our house. It sure is a funny feeling to put the key into the lock of your very own house. My parents and a friend, as well as my in-laws, our best friend, and the 3 of us started to work on the house today. We finished up the garden in the front of the house, took down the tiles and removed the wallpaper in the kitchen, and took apart our bathroom. They actually threw the bathtub out of the 2nd story window instead of carrying it down the stairs (that sucker was heaaavvvvvy). I wish I had shot a photo of that. It sure would have been cool to scrap :-) We still have a lot to do: the entire electrical system has to be redone and upgraded (can you believe that there were only 2 (!!!) outlets in the kitchen), all water pipes have to be redone, it needs a new condensing boiler for gas heating, all wood floors have to be sanded and need a new finish, all walls need the old wallpaper removed and have to be plastered and painted, a couple of windows have to be replaced, and I want to make some built-in cabinets for the droop in Damien's room. Wow, I just realized that I have my work cut out for me. To document all these happens I am creating a new house/decorating blog. I'll let you know about it as soon as it's up and running.

I started blogging last year shortly before Christmas in order to post a layout for a challenge. Who would have thought that I would be sitting here today writing my 500th post in not even a years time. I sure didn't. I also never would have thought that so many people would be interested in my blog. With an average of over 20,000 hits per week I guess I was wrong again, but for once very glad to be so ;-)
Since I started blogging I not only got to sit back to back with my sweetie almost every evening (opposed to sitting alone on the couch while he is online gaming), but I really started to enjoy scrapping, could share my favorite freebie finds, have the opportunity to be on my favorite scrapping store's CT, got RAKed numerous times by some very generous designers and readers, and most of all got to know so many of you fellow scrappers from all over the world. I have to say that has been the best part about blogging. Thank you for stopping by and leaving nice comments for me. Here is a little celebration gift I made:

I hate Mondays

I really, really dislike Mondays. The weekend is always too short, at work its all meetings and excel-sheets with last weeks stats, and on top of that we have to go grocery shopping because we always eat everything over the weekend. Mondays suck. And just to irritate me today my hard drive decided to remind me every 5 min that it is filled to the brim and I have to seriously clean it up. Now enough of my whining, your comments motivated me to hunt for some freebies and this is what I found:

Kits & other goodies:

Last week my girlfriend's daughter turned 3 and had a party to which we were invited.
I made a card to go with the gift (Tiddler from Donaldson and Scheffler (the new book from the makers of the Gruffalo) and a little girl necklace with wood hearts and glitter beads). For the card I used my all time favorite birthday template by Tracy B:

There is a fabulous new challenge at the Meadow today. I used the birthday party photos for my layout for the challenge:
Credits: clock, alpha, and background paper from Cherish Add-on by Gina Marie Huff; wood paper from Knocking On Wood by Gina Marie Huff; stitching from Being Me by Gina Marie Huff all available at; tape by Gina Marie Huff; frame cluster from Nancy Comelab; font: Joyful Juliana.

Now I'm off to clean up my hard drive... see you all tomorrow.
