wow, Wow, WOW

You gals are the greatest. I can't believe the amount of comments you left. Thank you all for your help, your comments are very inspiring. When I put up the quick post this morning at work (don't tell ;-)) I never thought that I would get over one hundred answers. You are a-ma-zing.
Now it was a close call, and if I counted correctly 70 voted for beach and 51 for drama, quite a few were as undecided as I am. Some of you were wondering what the green monster looks like, voilĂ :
I know, it isn't pretty, but it makes spots and stains magically disappear (very improtant with a toddler in the house), it was for free (used to belong to Chris' parents), it is extremely comfy (Chris' dad is still whining how uncomfortable his new one is compared to the green monster), and most important we don't have the money for a new one. As you can see, I currently went with an all green color scheme, which I really like, but after 5 years am just plain bored with.

Anyway here are the freebies you are all waiting for:

I'm first---well I know all about getting furniture for free. When you don't have the money-free works. But I have to say, the plant on top of the shelf in the corner is DEAD girl. You really need to toss it. Lot's of colorful pillows will hide the green monster.

WOW you found quite a lot of freebies today. and after seeing the "monster" I think you should go with the beach colors, solemn colors will be too dark for it, I think.

I LOVE the green monster. We used to have a similar monster. We got rid of it because it took up so much room. BIG MISTAKE! I miss the corner seat. It was the perfect comfy spot to snuggle my daughter. So, I wouldn't rush into replacing the monster, a few good pillows and a beautiful coffee table do wonders.

oh - and I love the beach colors - good choice.

well after seeing it I'd actually go drama--I think it would make the couch seem quite modern, since it has a bit of a square shape to it. Good luck, and thanks for the hunt!

oh did we get extra goodies for commenting? lol

the sofa's not bad. we bought a beautiful tan cordaroy textured sofa and loveseat. and immediately put sofa blanket/sofa covers on them.

our covers are the same color as your sofa except they are green with black pawmarks. not exactly stylish, but they have a thick backing that prevents our cat's claws from getting into the sofa. and fur isn't imbedded in the sofa let alone food crumbs!

5 cats and a toddler. gotta be practical

*L* I had to laugh when I saw your pic. I have a customer that I clean for that has that same couch in her house and it looks so much like ours it isn't even funny! *L* Except ours is a couch and love seat...and yes it is soooooooooo comfy!!! I still vote for the deeper richer colors *L* especially if you have a big room with lots of light!
We have a couple pieces of wood furniture, a tanish wall and carpet, brick fireplace and a black border in the room with our green couch. Oh and accented with a coppery lighthouse keepers lamp and mosaic candle holders in brown hues.

Now, after seeing the couch, I still think the bold colors are your best choice. If you want to downplay the couch rather than showcase it, that's your only solution. The pale "beachy" colors are just going to make it stand out more.

I've got a free alpha on my blog - http://www.blog.scrapbookingresourcecenter.com/index.php?blogId=1

Wow! What a great monster!
Have you ever tried to recolor a picture of this room? Keep the monster green and try other color on everything else...

thanks for the freebies, and yes speaking of freebies, our big monster of a couch was free too, and while it is just higious it is soo comfy. The best spot is the corner piece, thats my spot.
I still say beach colors.

Beach, definitely. Drama colors are way too somber and will make the Monster look even more ominous! :)

Wow, you have been a busy bee today. Thank you for finding these for us!

I was going to leave a comment, but when I saw how many you had, I gave up. ;)

By the way, we have the same IKEA bookshelf. Just got it last month and love it to death. We have four baskets, too, for all the kids' books and toys. Gotta love IKEA. ;)

I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to always write such a fabulous blog! I'm kind of voting for the drama colors; my whole house is beige right now (except my studio that I barely painted), so drama is sounding delicious and refreshing! I love all the great things you post, and am totally honored that you listed my freebie!
