Friday’s Freebies

The boy is back in town :-) He was so full of exciting stories and Chris’ parents took a ton of photos and even made a little video of his big ski race. Here he is in action (the video is as is, because I have no idea how to edit it and with what):

And I got the stairway finished (at least paint-wise) in time too. The paint is still wet in the photo, so it may look a bit blotchy here and there.

Thursday’s Freebies

Hi gals,
thanks for all your comments and helpful advice on our dining room. Chris and I worked all day today in our stairway again and with a bit of luck we’ll finish it before Damien comes home tomorrow. Today Damien participated in his first skiing race. He did really well aside from stopping during the race to admire some balloons on the side. What can I say, my kid is a dreamer and I love him for it. All the kids got a medal and he was very proud of his. Can’t wait so hold him in my arms tomorrow.

Wednesday’s Freebies

Today Chris and I finished half of our stairway with plaster paint. I had hoped to have it finished all the way and start on the living room tomorrow, but what the heck. One day more or less won’t kill me. I did however finish shortening our curtain in the kitchen - dining room, and hung it up on the new curtain wire Chris put up yesterday. Here is what it looks like. Any thoughts or improvement ideas?

So far the stairway looks just like I wanted it to be. Tomorrow I’ll pick up the latex paint and finish the job. I decided on getting it mixed a medium gray color. The steps will be sanded down with a clear finish and the sides and handlebar will be white with light grey accents. (the stairs will be my summer project, I am so not looking forward to that). I want to keep it neutral so I can wallpaper the accent walls. I already have a photo wallpaper of a flower meadow for the top floor. I hope to have the stairway completely finished by Friday afternoon, when Damien comes home from his skiing trip with his grandparents. So far he is having a ball and doesn’t miss us at all. But I sure miss my little boy.

Monday’s Freebies

Today my parents spent their holiday helping us tackle our stairway and living-room. We got a lot done and will finish the pre-painting preparations tomorrow. If all goes well we can start painting both the stairway connecting the 3 floors and the living-room on Wednesday and hopefully will be finished by Thursday evening. That still leaves us Friday for cleaning up and assembling the furniture. Slowly but steadily we are turning this construction site into a home. It sure will be nice to be able to use all the space we have available and finally have some room to put all our stuff which is still in moving boxes in the basement, where it has been waiting to be unpacked for almost one year.
