Wednesday’s Freebies

Hi gals,
thank you very much for your well wishes. You are the greatest :-) I’m feeling a bit better than yesterday, however still far from being OK, but the meds keep me on my feet. To brighten up my spirits I thought I’ll search for a fun movie to watch online while hunting and I came across one of my all time favorites: The Big Easy from 1987 with Ellen Barkin and Dennis Quaid as the young and sexy detective Remy McSwain. It’s a great thriller, but I like best that the atmosphere of New Orleans is basically oozing out of every frame. You really get the feel of the city, at least how it was pre-Katrina. I don’t know if that still applies as I haven’t been back since Katrina hit. But watching that movie sure makes me homesick. When I hear his mama speak aka actress Grace Zabriskie it makes my heart yearn. I miss Nawlins, the where y’at?, the beignets at Café du Monde, the old houses, walks through the Garden district and along the levee, the rumbling old street cars, the pink sky in the evening that takes your breath away, the rich blooming gardens, the heat, heck I even miss the humidity. If I had the money, I would probably be booking airline tickets right now. So, be happy that I don’t have any money and am freebie hunting instead ;-)
Thanks again for your comments.

SOOOO happy that you are feeling better and bless your heart and missing Nawlins'! My better half is what I refer to as half-Hawaiian, half-Cajun! Robert's mother was Hawaiian and his real father, who died before he was born, is from Louisiana (Monroe area)!

After watching Katrina and listening to MANY celebrities from New Orleans, I have had a hankering for us to visit one day! We do have relatives to visit after all! He, he ...

I remember sitting next to a LOVELY Aussie gentleman on my flight to Rome and we chatted the entire nine hour flight about everything including his moving to the US after meeting his wife at Mardi Gras! That right there speaks for the POWER of New Orleans AND a woman, eh? LOL!

Thank you for spending your "airfare" on ALL of us in SCRAPLAND! You SO rock ... and then SOME!

Linda XOXO

Thank you so much, Angie. I appreciate all the time you spend on this for us! BTW, another fun Dennis Quaid movie that also takes place in New Orleans is "Undercover Blues." If you haven't seen it, though it wasn't a huge hit, it was hilarious. You might like it!
