W&W CT layout

This summer during the 3 week summer break, Damien went to art school for one week. The day-care educators had advised me to encourage his artistic talent, which I hadn't even realized he had - shame on mommy. Now I have been doing art projects with him for some time, well frankly because I like to draw and be creative. We have painted pictures with all kinds of paint, pencils, crayons, chalk, finger paint, etc., on all kinds of materials such as paper and canvas, made ladybugs out of nutshells...you get the picture. So I thought it would be a good idea to get some different input for him and went in search of an art school. When I set out I thought it would be an easy task to do, living in a fairly large city. Well I thought wrong. Now if Damien were 5 years old it would have been no problem, but no one wanted to take on a 2 and a half year old toddler. In the end I found one totally sweet and talented lady that has a creative workshop for kids. She agreed to take Damien for one hour daily into her group existing group of elementary school kids. Their project that week was to make a puppet. Since that was to advanced for him, he made a jumping jack out of coconut halves and beads. He loved coloring and assembling it. In between they painted a lot of pictures, including my favorite one: the flower that you see in the layout. Damien really loved going there. And we are definitely going back during the next summer break. I just wish I had taken more pictures...

Your guy has talent! I could easily recognize the flower (very unusual for his age) and hats off to his teachers for advising you of his talent and for you being able to find an art teacher/program for him!

I really love that layout! The background complements the (finger painting?) and the colors are so cheerful and warm. It's great that you got ANY pictures at all. I've had fun lately with my own children's art work. I framed it and made a gallery in our home. Some of it looks like professional work now that it's in a frame. Just go to IKEA for frames... ;)

That's cool that you've recognized his artistic gift early on and have started encouraging it. He'll have such confidence and knowledge for his talent. Praise for the art instructor who took on your little guy at such an early age!

The layout is fantastic, and I think it's a great idea that you are encouraging Damien in that artistic direction so soon. :) Actually his drawing is very good for his age, so he surely has artistic talent in him. :)

Thanks for sharing the layout and best wishes. :O)
